Diane DeLuca was an educator for 34 years. She began her teaching career as an English teacher at North Babylon High School. When she was excessed from North Babylon, she continued her teaching career as a Spanish teacher at H. Frank Carey High School in the Sewanhaka District. She was then promoted to the position of the ENL (English as a New Language, formerly ESL) District Coordinator and Building Chairperson. Diane facilitated the program in all 5 high schools which serviced beginner ENL students to advanced. Her duties included hiring of staff, intake interviews on new students entering the United States, state testing, grant writing, and observing teachers in the district. She attended SUNY at Stony Brook for her undergraduate and graduate degrees and Long Island University at C.W. Post for her administrative degree. She retired in June of 2020.
Diane resides in North Babylon, and has lived in her home for 40 years. She has one daughter, Emily who is following her footsteps in education. Upon her retirement, Diane was approached by the North Babylon Lions and quickly got involved, and has been a member for 11 yrs. She moved up from Secretary to eventually President for the past 4 years. She is now moving on to District 20s for the lions and will continue her Lions career there. Diane was one of the founding members of the North Babylon Chamber of Commerce, and has held the positions of Secretary and Vice President. She currently serves as a Director.
