The North Babylon Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce that our Third Annual – Go Fly a Kite Over Babylon will be held on Saturday, April 29 at Cedar Beach, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Festival has extended the time an additional hour for people to enjoy the Kite Flying and the wonderful food and merchants that will be on hand.

It was, in many ways, the perfect day.
The sky was clear.
The winds were soft and lofty
The temperatures were cool.
And so, approximately 4,000 people gathered at Cedar Beach to “Go Fly a Kite” on Sat., April 30.
The event, sponsored by the North Babylon Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Babylon and partially funded from a Grant secured from County Legislator Tom Donnelly, from Suffolk County was first held last year with the cancellation of the Chamber’s annual street fair.
“My wife remembered seeing the kites in Washington during Cherry Blossom season and it stuck in her mind as a beautiful event,” said Garrett Simulcik, president of the Chamber. “So, we decided to put together a spring kite festival here in Babylon.”
Last year’s event was very successful and this year’s even more so, said Simulcik. “It was open to everyone and people came out from the city, from out east and from out of state. This event really brought everyone together at a time when it was important.”
It was also an opportunity for the Town of Babylon to showcase its beautiful beaches said Simulcik.
